Daybreak offers seniors in the Greenville/Spartanburg and surrounding communities the one thing they value the most – their independence. For more than 18 years, Daybreak has served families offering compassionate care and companionship.
As we age, our short-term memory becomes duller, while our long-term memory becomes sharper. People like to joke about it, but poor memory can lead to more serious problems, such as forgotten medications, leaving the stove on, and general confusion when outside the home in the community.
Also and for a variety of reasons, many elderly people begin to find it difficult to walk or even stand without assistance, resulting in frequent falls. If this is happening to your loved one, have a doctor conduct a thorough examination to see if the balance problem is due to dizziness from medication, for example. Also, check the house for obstacles, loose rugs, bad lighting, etc. that may exacerbate the problem. Call Daybreak and we can talk about what is happening and we will help you assess the situation.

Our mother battled Pancreatic Cancer for 4 years. The time had arrived to locate someone for help in the near future and it was placing mom in a nervous and defensive state. My mother’s concern with her vanity and pride in her closing weeks while battling pancreatic cancer was met with a calming first visit from Gary Day. The calming, professional care that he brought with him did not stop there. The staff that was handpicked to fulfill hers and our needs was a gift from God.
My mother looked up at me, a few days later, held my hand, with tears of joy and peace in her eyes said: “You were right, thank you so much son.” She was overjoyed, during a horrific time in her life, with the compassion she had received from DayBreak.
The care for ourselves including our loved one is important. DayBreak not only fulfilled all the needs that mom deserved but touched my heart along the way. The acceptance she gave me while holding my hand lifted a great burden from having to be involved in such a difficult task that was placed before us.
That moment would not have happened without DayBreak Upstate Adult Care Services!
