At Daybreak, we know what kind of people to recruit and we know the level of training they should have before coming to your home. Chrissa Mole Matthews holds her Master's Degree (+30) in Speech-Language Pathology after earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from USC-Aiken. As a licensed speech therapist since 1999, Chrissa has worked with geriatric and other populations in both in-home (home health) and hospital/clinic environments through her work with local agencies in addition to her private speech therapy practice. Chrissa also serves her community through leadership positions with various local non-profit organizations and her church. With her unique understanding of the specific needs that senior individuals require to ensure independent living, Chrissa's desire is that Daybreak Adult Care Services fulfills these needs through personalized care.

Linda Hart Lucas has been a resident of Aiken since age two, she is the proud mother of two adult sons, a grandmother of three and has been married for 43 years to Warren Lucas. Linda attended USCA, UT, Aiken Tech, UGA and is a graduate Medical College of Georgia (MCG). She is a Registered Radiologic Technologist and six medical certifications and her professional experience includes the Texas Medical Center in Houston, the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, as well as local physicians and hospitals. She also spent 16 years working at the Savannah River Site in the areas of public relations, safety and budgeting. As the current Community Relations Director of DayBreak Adult Care Services, her focus is on marketing, and as one of the field supervisors; she also performs home safety assessments and new client intakes. Linda has been with In-Home Care for the past 11 years serving as a Clinical Director and the Marketing Director. Linda is a commissioner and the current Chairman of the Senior Commission with Aiken City Council. She is a Dementia Care Specialist and is a facilitator with the local Alzheimer support group, Lewy Body Dementia support group and speaks across the CSRA on Dementia and Alzheimer's.

Cheryl has been a resident of Aiken for 20 years. Cheryl earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from USC-Aiken. As a registered nurse for over 25 years, Cheryl has worked with adults, geriatrics, acute and non-acute populations both in-home, (hospice and DOL) and hospital/clinic environments through her work with local agencies.

As our Senior Case Manager, Cheryl completes all initial assessments on EEOICP recipients and ensures the custom needs of each client. Cheryl gains immense satisfaction knowing that she is able to be closely involved with our clients. Cheryl's mission with each individual and their loved ones is to foster a strong bond of trust and security as the nurse advocate.

She resides in Aiken with her husband and four children.

Deborah Kay Bledsoe Hipps

Deborah Kay Bledsoe Hipps

HR Coordinator

A graduate of Strom Thurmond High School, Deborah has been married for 32 years and has three children. Her education includes a degree as a medical transcriptionist, as well as an Associate's Degree in Applied Science and a major in Cardiovascular Technology. Deborah has also worked in banking and as a medical transcriptionist. At DayBreak, Deborah facilitates the human resource processes such as hiring, payroll, orientation, as well as coaching our caregiver staff to maintain a high level of professionalism when working with our clients. Deborah's heart for people, excellent communication skills and attention to detail serve her well as HR Coordinator for DayBreak. Deborah also enjoys professional baking, singing in her church choir, and spending time with her family.

Patrice D. Tavernier

Patrice Durban Tavernier is a third generation Aikenite who completed her RN studies initially at St Francis Hospital School if Nursing in Charleston, SC and then completed her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta , Georgia. She also holds a degree in Risk Management. She served as a nurse in the United States Navy and has been a Health Care Provider for 40 years. Her background includes all areas of nursing with a special interest in Emergency and Critical Care services as well as seventeen years as a hospital administrator in South Carolina and Florida. Patrice gets great satisfaction from her role ensuring that in home care by caregivers meets the needs of Long Term Care clients. Daybreak staff appreciate the importance of quality plan of care suggestions Patrice brings to the home care environment. Patrice and her husband David, a local author, returned to Aiken to make their permanent home here in 2008.

Lead Scheduler

Beth Mixon joined DayBreak shortly after we opened as a total patient care tech, with certifications in EKG, Phlebotomy and certified nursing assistance. She progressed from working in the field as a Total Patient Care Technician to becoming a Scheduler and On Call Manager. Beth has a tremendous compassion for helping others and an attention to detail. She often will visit our clients' homes to gain a better understanding of their specific needs so that she is able to assist them comfortably making the transition into home health care. She takes great pride in thoughtfully matching up the right caregiver with our clients to ensure quality services are provided and our clients and their families are comfortable and happy. In her spare time, Beth enjoys spending time with her family.

Nancy Young

Administrative Assistant

Nancy has lived in Aiken all of her life. She has been married for 43 years and has 2 daughters, 2 son in laws and 4 grandsons. Nancy worked 18 years at GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare as a Supply and Demand Analyst where she was responsible for taking the market demands and scheduling those demands into production lines. One of her biggest accomplishments at GSK was the successful launch of the Commit smoking cessation lozenge both nationally and internationally.

She was hired at Daybreak April of 2014 as a part time receptionist which quickly evolved into full time administrative assistant as business grew. Nancy has been given the responsibilities of supporting schedulers and human resource coordinator, pre-screening applicants, setting up interviews, post training/CPR classes, keeping track of LSCOG vouchers and handing out payroll, among many other tasks. She says her biggest joy working here is the interaction with clients and caregivers.

Heidi earned her nursing degree at a private nursing school in Pennsylvania and has been a registered nurse for 26 years. Heidi has worked in several hospital settings to include Pediatrics, Cardiac Care, Medical -Surgical and Orthopedic. In the hospital setting, she served on the wound care committee and was responsible for educating staff nurses on proper wound care techniques.

She has worked in in-home settings for the past 10 years, including Hospice and In-Home Care Management for DOL clients. Heidi enjoys the close-knit relationships she has developed with Daybreak clients and their families and providing a sense of security and trust for clients and families as she manages the care we provide.

A resident of Aiken for the past 20 years, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons.

Marilyn Buffett

Marilyn is a fourth generation Aikenite. She has been married for 42 years and has two sons and six granddaughters. She retired from the Savannah River Site (SRS) after 28 years to spend more time with her mother who was in the last stages of Alzheimer’s Disease, and to spend more time with her granddaughters. She joined the DayBreak team in 2012 bringing with her personal experiences from her mother’s AD journey and business improvement experiences as Lead Administrative Specialist to the Defense Program Technology Group at SRS. While at SRS Marilyn obtained certification and experience in the areas of Facilitation and training, Team Building, Process Improvement , Business Development, and Lean Six Sigma. She has been teaching Sunday School for over 40 years and is a member of the Praise and Worship team and choir at her church. These personal and business experiences serve her well as the Training Coordinator at DayBreak.

Kara has lived in Aiken for 25 years. She is a graduate of Irmo High School and Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology she has worked many areas of healthcare. She worked at Hitchcock Healthcare managing the wellness program and eventually moved into marketing for programs varying from pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, home health and hospice. She has held other positions marketing skilled nursing facilities as well as a start up home health and hospice company. She also enjoys event planning and developed the Aiken Senior Extravaganza as well as community events such as the Lobster Race and Gold Cup Polo. She has been married to her husband, David, for 24 years and has three children. When Kara is not working you can find her at the lake or watching her children play sports. Kara has a love for older adults and enjoys working with families to find the best care possible for their loved ones. Her varied experience in many areas of health care gives her a unique perspective when assisting families as they navigate the healthcare maze.

Jewel is a third generation Aikenite living in Aiken her entire life. She graduated from Aiken High School.Jewel is married and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. She has a Early Childhood certificate and was a teacher’s aide for 10 yrs, with the Aiken County Schools ,then went to work for Aiken Technical College as a lead teacher in their Child Development Center and also supervised students who trained at the center. Jewel retired from Aiken Technical College then proceeded to continue taking care of her grandchildren and a niece and 2 nephews until they entered school. She is one of the original employees of Daybreak beginning in 2010 as a personal care worker and receiving her C N A degree during that first year. When Daybreak opened their training center She began to help with training. Jewel is very active in her church and serves as children’s church director and oversees all activities for the children.
